Theory and History: An Interpretation of Social and Economic Evolution is a book by Austrian School economist Ludwig von Mises, first published in 1957.

About[]

Theory and History is in part a criticism of Karl Marx and his dialectical materialism, and in part an exposition of Mises's own ideas of historical method. Mises believed that history (unlike economics) was not a deductive science and was not governed by universal laws; it had to be studied as a series of individual events (though the laws of praxeology could be used in explanation).[1].
